A new Italian restaurant will be opening soon in to the Cravens building on Center street.

What would you say if we told you there was a new Italian restaurant coming to the area just off the Fayetteville square?

We ask, because there’s a new Italian restaurant coming to the area just off the Fayetteville square.

The new place will be called Vetro Ristorante, and is a new project by native Italian Angelo Amabile and partner Marsha Harris. Vetro will occupy the bottom floor and the basement of the Cravens Building, located at 21 E. Center Street.

Amabile and Harris also own Piatto Cucina Italiana in Tulsa, but as Amabile tells it, they’re anxious to focus on their new project.

“We just moved to Fayetteville, and we love it here,” Amabile said. “We will keep the restaurant in Tulsa so we still have to spend some time there, but we’re looking forward to becoming full-time Fayetteville residents.”

Amabile said that he has hired chef Alan Dierks from Ristorante Capeo in North Little Rock to anchor his kitchen, and he plans to serve regional Italian cuisine with an emphasis on Tuscan cooking.

The focus for Vetro, according to Amabile will be simple, fresh food.

“The theme is to do as little as possible with the best possible ingredients so that you can capture the flavor of each ingredient at its best,” he said.

The Cravens building also has a large basement that will allow the restaurant to carry over 200 wines, and will accommodate around 50 people for private parties.

Renovations are currently underway, and Amabile said he hopes to be open sometime in October.
