Fayetteville Farmers’ Market slips into 4th place in competition

Just over a month ago, the Fayetteville Farmers’ Market took the lead in a nationwide competition to decide America’s favorite farmers’ market.

Now, with only two weeks left, the Fayetteville market (1796 votes) has fallen behind the evil (probably not evil) farmers’ markets from Snellville, GA (1931 votes), New Braunfels, TX (2724 votes) and Las Cruces, NM (3156 votes) in the large market category.

The America’s Favorite Farmers Markets contest is hosted by American Farmland Trust, a conservation organization dedicated to saving America’s farm and ranch land, promoting environmentally sound farming practices, and supporting a sustainable future for farms.

Four winning markets—one large, one medium, one small, and one boutique—will receive the title of America’s Favorite Farmers Market for 2011. Winners will be featured on the leading food site Epicurious.com, and will be honored at local celebrations that include prizes.

The voting closes at midnight on Aug. 31, 2011.

For the good guys to win, pretty much all of you guys are going to have to vote and/or convince several of your friends to vote for Fayetteville at farmland.org/vote.
