Daily Flyer: Wednesday, Aug. 24

Colorado-based Big Gigantic return to Fayetteville Wednesday night for a sold-out show at George’s Majestic Lounge.

Local Notes

Today’s notes section is dedicated to Springdale, our funny looking neighbor to the north (that we should probably stop making fun of because they’re the only thing separating us from the Rogers/Bentonville Supercenter).

First up, a Springdale man who broke into Electric Moo in Fayetteville a few months ago received a 10-year prison sentence yesterday. Ryan Andrew Bauer, 34, will serve four years in prison. Circuit Judge William Storey suspended the remaining six years of the sentence. (NWAOnline)

Smells great!

Bauer apparently was onto something. The synthetic marijuana he said he was looking for was seized from Electric Moo last week. (KHBS)

Springdale-based production company Hannover House, in partnership with Sea World, is now seeing the fruits of a 25-year project filming turtles. The result? Turtle: The Incredible Journey. The film, which was released in June and played in 38 markets, will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray in November. (KFSM)

Finally, there’s a fancy new Springdale shirt available for purchase. Smells great! (Bearstate Supply)

Happy Birthday!

Locals: Chris Selby, Olivia Larson, Chaddie Platt, Debi Havner, Katelyn Mathis, Rick Bushmiaer, Shannon Alvey, Tracy Hipps, Casey Tauber, and Rob Button.
Others: Professional wrestling promoter Vince McMahon is 66, actor Steve Guttenberg is 53, actor/talk show host Craig Kilborn is 49, comedian Dave Chappelle is 38 and actor Chad Michael Murray is 30.

Wednesday To-do

As promised, the short calendar lists are over, at least for the week. Starting today, there’s plenty to do in Fayetteville.

Groovin’ on the Grass

Students can hang out on the Student Union lawn from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today for Groovin’ on the Grass. Expect food, music, games and $1 Razorback t-shirts to support a local charity.

Starting at around sundown, there’s music scheduled all over town.

George’s has a sold out show with Colorado electronica duo Big Gigantic and Gramatik. If you didn’t get tickets and are bummed, there’s a consolation prize just for you. A free download of Big Gigantic’s, “A Place Behind the Moon,” is available over at the band’s website.

Also tonight, Shout Lulu is at Greenhouse Grille, Nature Miller (Cletus Got Shot) is at Smoke & Barrel and Russ Hutchison is at JJ’s.
