The University of Arkansas athletic department is planning a September 11 memorial for the Hogs’ football game against New Mexico, scheduled for Sept. 10 in Little Rock.

“We want to invite all Razorback fans to join us for a Red, White and Blue Out for the New Mexico game at War Memorial Stadium,” said UA athletic director Jeff Long in a statement. “Even as we commemorate the 10th anniversary of one of the most tragic days in our nation’s history, we will come together to remember those who were lost. We will also celebrate the heroism of the men and women who serve our country as first responders and continue to protect our freedom as members of the United States Armed Forces.”

Aside from a patriotic Razorback logo painted at midfield, the UA Athletic Department is asking all fans to participate by wearing alternating red or white clothing depending on their seat location inside War Memorial Stadium (see graphic below). Fans in odd-numbered sections are asked to wear white, and fans in even-numbered sections are asked to wear red. UA students will be given blue Razorback t-shirts, and Red, White & Blue Razorback logo shirts will be for sale.

Other events, including a moment of silence before the national anthem, a scheduled flyover from the 189th Air Wing of the Arkansas National Guard, and performances of patriotic music by the Razorback Marching Band are also scheduled.

The Razorbacks and Lobos are set to face each other at 6 p.m., and the game will be televised on ESPNU.
