Daily Flyer: Thursday, Sept. 1

Local Notes

SNL’s Jay Pharoah was in town last night and according to a few tweets we came across, the show was as sold out as a free show can get inside the Union Ballroom. Apparently, people were turned away for lack of seating. If you missed out, Jay was on the local TV news last night talking about the Razorbacks in his best Stewie Griffin voice. (KNWA)

If you run a local business, don’t forget to register with the city’s new business license program. It began in Aug. 1 and registration runs through Oct. 31. We talked to Cory Whorton, office manager of the development services division, earlier this week and he said nearly 700 businesses have signed up so far. (Fayetteville Flyer)

Game week is here and the RazorBloggers have put together a great preview for the Missouri State game on Saturday. Go get recharged and ready. (RazorBloggers)

Thursday To-do:

Tonight features another round of the annual First Thursday event on the Fayetteville square. We’ve got a Flyer Guide for that which will publish later this morning, so here’s a few highlights of what else you can expect this evening around town.

“Fest of All” is set for tonight in conjunction with First Thursday. City officials say the first year event, aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion, will be a “celebration of the cultures of the Ozarks.”

Expect music, ballet, drum and dance, vendors and artists to be set up around the square from 5 to 8 p.m.

Also tonight, there’s a First Thursday after party at Smoke & Barrel, The Heat play Powerhouse‘s Party on the Patio and JB & the Moonshine Band are at George’s.
