League of Women Voters of Washington County to host membership meeting Sept. 7 | Press Release

Submitted by: League of Women Voters of Washington County

The League of Women Voters of Washington County invites the public to attend its annual membership meeting on Sept. 7, at which League leaders will introduce members and guests to the organization’s nonpartisan approach to addressing community issues. The meeting will take place from 5 – 6:30 p.m. in the Walker Community Room at the Fayetteville Public Library.

The meeting will serve as a reminder that our community, state and nation will only solve its public policy dilemmas with solid research and thoughtful conversation and debate, which has long been the League’s approach to engaging our local citizenry.

“In this political climate, many have forgotten what it is to be nonpartisan,” said Mary Alice Serafini of Fayetteville, the League president. “We are a truly nonpartisan organization working to encourage all citizens to participate in the political process.”

The League of Women Voters is a multi-issue organization whose mission is to encourage the informed and active participation of citizens in the government and to influence public policy through education and advocacy. The Washington County League provides nonpartisan political information, a guide to elected officials, candidate forums, programs on current issues, a citizen information guide and other resources to help citizens participate in the political process.

Attendees are invited to drop by the meeting, which will include a presentation at 5:30 p.m. More information about joining the League will be available before and after the program. For more information contact Laura Kellams at [email protected] or by calling (479) 927-9800.
