41st annual Ice Cream Social set for Saturday, Sept. 10 at Headquarters House

Are you free on Saturday? Do you like history? Can you tolerate lactose?

If so, you might be happy to know that the Washington County Historical Society is hosting the 41st annual Ice Cream Social at the Headquarters House from 4 to 6 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 10.

The event features live music, homemade cakes, an opportunity to tour the historic Headquarters House, and of course, plenty of frozen, ice-creamy deliciousness.

For those who aren’t familiar, the Headquarters House is located at 118 E Dickson St., and was used at various times as the headquarters for both Union and Confederate forces during the Civil War. Check out the entry on fayettevillehistory.com for more.

The Ice Cream Social is a fundraiser for the Historical Society’s educational programs for children and adults.

Admission is $5 for adults, $2.50 for ages 6 to 12, and free for kids under 5. Family tickets are also available for $15. For advance tickets, call 521-2970.
