Adams named special teams player of the week

Arkansas wide receiver and punt returner Joe Adams is a bad mammer-jammer.

The senior from Little Rock returned not one, but two punts for touchdowns in Saturday’s convincing 51-7 victory over Missouri State, netting him SEC Special Teams Player of the Week honors this week.

Adams two-touchdown performance tied an SEC record for punt-return-touchdowns in a single game. His 174 total-yards on six punt returns against the Bears set an Arkansas school record, shattering the previous record of 146 yards set by Jack Morris against North Texas State in 1971.

Adams was named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time in his career. He also won the award last season when he racked up 120 punt return yards (including a school-record 97-yard return for a touchdown) against Ole Miss. He is the third Razorback, joining Felix Jones and Dennis Johnson, to be named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week twice since the award was initiated in 2002.

Below is a video of Adams’ second touchdown return against the Bears Saturday, with special guest commentary by Arkansas basketball coach Mike Anderson. Good job, Joe.
