Fayetteville artist goes national: Licensed art kits by Linda Sheets to be sold in stores

  • By Todd Gill · Tuesday, Sep 6, 2011

Fayetteville artist Linda Sheets has attracted some national attention.

Ampersand Art Supply has licensed her scratchboard designs for kits to be sold across nationwide in Hobby Lobby and Aaron Brothers Framing stores.

As a result, Sheets will spend much of 2012 traveling the country, including Alaska, teaching scratchboard classes and doing demos in stores that sell her kits.

Six of Sheets’ scratchboard designs will be made available. Each kit includes one of her original monkey, dog or still life images, as well as a 5×7-inch board, tool and pattern.

A transplant from Austin, Sheets fell in love with scratchboard ten years ago.

“It’s fun, instantly gratifying, and as I like to say, anyone can do this,” Sheets said. “Even small children take to it quickly, with supervision. If you can make a mark, you can make art.”

Her work now appears in galleries across Texas, Missouri and Arkansas, and is in many private collections.

Sheets will be teaching scratchboard classes locally this fall inside Fayetteville Underground, where she has been a member since February.

Classes are from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 10 and Sept. 24. Cost is $15 and includes all materials. Registration is available during regular gallery hours at Fayetteville Underground on the downtown square or by calling Sheets at 512-825-1546.
