SARPA presents Cirque De Couture Sept. 9 at Rogue

Add all of the the following things up: a fashion competition + music + a mini-carninval + clowns + carneys + mimes + hula hoops and baton twirling. Subtract drama. And scrubs (we don’t want none).

If our calculations are correct, the above is the equation for Sexual Assault Recovery and Prevention Agency’s (SARPA for short) Cirque de Couture fashion design competition, set for this Friday, Sept. 9 at Rogue Pizza Co.

The carnival-themed event will feature local designers competing for a chance to be the featured designer at SARPA’s annual Starry Night fashion show, coming up in early 2012.

Designers include Angelia Barbee (Fayetteville), Chavon Sewell (Fayetteville), Austin Robertson (Fayetteville), Shamirra Clark (Little Rock) and Sheila James Scott (Little Rock). Local band Randall Shreve & the Sideshow will provide the musical entertainment.

There will also be a separate competition for ABC (anything but cloth) look. Designers will construct one look that may have a cloth under layer but all visible area must be made with non-refined fabric.

Finally, according to the Facebook event created for the show, there is some kind of special surprise planned the evening before the show (Thursday, Sept. 8) at around 7 p.m. on Dickson Street.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 the day of the show, and are now on sale in person at Rogue Pizza Co.
