Daily Flyer: Thursday, Sept. 15

Local Notes

UA police are investigating break-ins to at least 12 vehicles parked in Lot 72 Monday evening. Thieves smashed windows to gain entry, so UAPD officials are recommending students remove valuables from their vehicles in the area. (UA Newswire)

A large crowd turned out for Tuesday’s dedication of the new Happy Hollow Elementary School in Fayetteville. Cary Pollock has some photos over at fayar.net. (FPS)

With smoking banned on all state college campuses in Arkansas, UA students are crossing the street to smoke in off-campus areas including the sidewalk in front of Leverett Elementary School. (NWAOnline)

Thursday To-do

The weather is great, the calendar list is long, and as far as we know, Fayetteville is still #1 in everything. It’s time to celebrate.

If sitting outside with an adult beverage while someone plays music is your idea of a good Thursday night, consider hanging out at Kingfish. Big Smith’s Mark Bilyeu will be there tonight.

Not into weather? No big deal. There’s good indoor music at Smoke & Barrel with Brooklyn’s The Shondes and Effron White’s Songs in the ‘Ville at UARK Bowl.

No music? OK, fine. TheatreSquared’s highly acclaimed Boeing-Boeing begins week three at Nadine Baum Studios and the UA Union Theater will host a screening of Waiting for Superman.

There’s more, too.
