Fayetteville police say a reported robbery last week at U.S. Pizza Co. on Dickson Street was staged by an employee of the restaurant.

Keith Layne Ingram, 29, of Fayetteville, was arrested Friday afternoon in connection with the incident and charged with filing a false police report and theft of property.

Police received a 911 call just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20 from a manager of the restaurant at 202 W. Dickson St. who said he had just been robbed at gunpoint.

According to a police report, the employee told officers the suspect forced him into a freezer before fleeing the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Sgt. Craig Stout said detectives later determined the employee had staged the robbery with the help of a friend.

Stout said the investigation is ongoing.
