It is a scientific fact that pancakes made by firefighters are 30 percent more delicious than regular pancakes. Pretty much everyone knows this.

If you don’t believe us, you could see for yourself on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Fayetteville Fire Department’s annual pancake breakfast.

The event is held each year at Fire Station No. 1, located at 303 W. Center St. in downtown Fayetteville.

The tradition began more than 30 years ago as a fundraiser for the station’s resident dalmatian, Sparky. There is no dog at the station these days, but Battalion Chief Mauro Campos said funds raised at the event now go toward providing gifts for retiring firefighters, and various community outreach initiatives.

Advance tickets are $4, and are on sale at the station, or $5 at the door the day of the event. Breakfast will be served from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m.

For more information, call the fire department’s non-emergency line at 479-575-8365.
