University of Arkansas Board of Trustees voted to increase the maximum cost of the renovation and expansion of Vol Walker Hall by about $3.8 million, NWAOnline reports.

UA Chancellor G. David Gearhart said the extra funds are needed to ensure all three Fay Jones School of Architecture programs—architecture, landscape architecture and interior design—will be housed in one location.

Additional fundraising or a tuition hike for architecture students may be required to make up for the additional cost.

The renovation and expansion project, which is expected to be complete in time for the 2013-2014 school year, will allow the architecture school to increase enrollment by at least 20 percent.

The additional cost will bring the total for the project to $36.6 million.
