Organizers of Last Night, a New Year’s Eve celebration set to debut in downtown Fayetteville in 2011, have released entertainment details for the first-year event.

Local bands 1 Oz. Jig, Fayetteville Jazz Collective, Emily Kaitz, Still on the Hill, Randall Shreve, and DJ Robe Flax are set to perform, as will artist groups The Artist Laboratory Theatre, Phunbags Comedy Improv, Fools on Parade Stand Up Comedy, and more.

Kid-friendly activities include music by Shaky Bugs, juggling by Jugglology, and a giant puppet parade by JoAnn Kaminsky.

A “Hog drop,” (similar to the ball-drop in Times Square) with a 8.5 foot hog sculpted by local husband and wife team, Mike Davis and Sonia Davis Gutierrez, will take place at midnight.

Last Night is a re-imagining of a New Year’s Eve event called First Night that took place for 13 years in Fayetteville before being discontinued last year. The celebration is being organized by members of the local Creative Economy Action Group (CEAG).

The event will take place during the evening of Dec. 31, 2011. Admission is $10 in advance for adults and $5 for children. A limited number of VIP tickets are available for $50, and include access to the VIP lounge with catered hors d’oeuvres and an open bar.

Tickets are on sale at lastnightfayetteville.eventbrite.com.
