Arkansas receiver Marquel Wade has been suspended for one game by the Southeastern Conference for his hit on Vanderbilt punt returner Jonathan Krause.

The league released their decision on the suspension on Tuesday.

From the SEC release:
“Wade’s action was in violation of NCAA Football Rule 6-4-1 for a flagrant violation of interfering with an opportunity to catch a kick and NCAA Football Rule 9-1-3 for targeting and initiating contact with an opponent using the crown of his helmet.”

Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino released a one-sentence statement on the suspension Tuesday afternoon.

“We have addressed the matter and will comply with the league’s decision,” said Petrino.

Wade, who is a starter on special teams for the Hogs and an occasional contributor on offense, will miss Arkansas’ matchup with No. 10 ranked South Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 5.
