If you’ve got late fees at the Fayetteville Public Library and a few extra canned goods in your cupboard, this week is your chance to do a swip-swap.

The library will accept canned goods and other foods in exchange for overdue fees during Food For Fees Week Nov. 14 to 20 to help Cooperative Emergency Outreach in cooperation with Feed Fayetteville.

Library members will get $1 in current fees waived for each can or package of food donated during the drive. Food For Fees does not cover replacement fees for lost or damaged materials or fees for losses that are in billing or collection stages.

Unopened, unexpired, non-perishable, non-glass donations will be accepted in boxes or plastic bags at the circulation desk. Members will need to bring their library cards to receive the trade.

Items especially needed include, peanut butter, canned tuna fish or chicken, pork and beans, canned soup, canned fruit, cereal and saltine crackers.
