For the first time in several years, local playwright, actor, director, and Ceramic Cow Productions co-founder Mark Landon Smith won’t be putting on one of his Dupont, Mississippi shows for the holidays.

Fans of his work shouldn’t worry too much, however. He’s still doing a show.

Smith will perform David Sedaris’ hilarious one-man show, “Santaland Diaries,” beginning tonight (Dec. 8) at UARK Bowl in Fayetteville.

The show follows Sedaris’ character, Crumpet, and his brief but misguided career as a Macy’s elf. As Smith describes it, “The show skewers our sentimental love of all things Christmas – the happy children, the spritely elves, the gifts, the good cheer…and the result is bawdy and irreverent, but always fun.”

The show is 21 and up, and a intended for “mature elves only.”

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. each night from Dec. 8-10. Tickets are available at the door for $12.
