Adios, Sunrise Cafe

Oak Ridge Trail

The building once home to Sunrise Cafe on Garland Avenue was demolished late last week as part of a road widening project that, until recently, hasn’t shown many signs of movement.

A Fayetteville police officer was arrested yesterday in connection with felony first-degree battery and aggravated assault. Cpl. Terry Davis has been placed on paid administrative leave while the matter is investigated.

Two new city trails received their official names last night during the City Council meeting. Here’s a brief recap of all the night’s business.

The Arkansas men’s basketball team improved to 11-3 on the season after a 83-66 win over Savannah State Tuesday night. The Hogs begin conference play against Mississippi State Saturday at 8 p.m. in Fayetteville.

Kiplinger released its list of “100 Best Values in Public Colleges” on Tuesday, and a certain university located on a hill in Fayetteville, Arkansas made the cut.

The Steel Wheels

Virginia-based Americana band The Steel Wheels are in town tonight for a 7 p.m. show at GoodFolk Productions.

The group will soon release a new album, but the four-piece band is likely still celebrating the success of their previous record, “Red Wing,” which charted for 13 weeks on the Americana Music Association Top 40 radio charts, eventually hitting No. 15. The $15 tickets can be reserved through the GoodFolk website or by calling Mike Shirkey at 521-1812.
