Fayetteville hasn’t been home to a dedicated comedy club for years now, but you may have noticed that a lot of laughter has been leaking onto Dickson Street from the doors of the UARK Bowl recently.

The venue staff has been steadily increasing the amount of live comedy on their schedule, and more is on the way, thanks to a new Sunday night stand-up series announced earlier this week.

According to a news release, the venue has partnered with national booking agency Funny Business to host several nationally-recognized comics, beginning Sunday, Jan. 22 with A.J. Finney.

Finney has performed at the Las Vegas Comedy Festival, was the third-place winner of Comcast’s Trial By Laughter, was a semifinalist at the 31st Annual Seattle Comedy Competition, and was a “featured comedian” on 24/7 Comedy Radio. His album, “My Brain Don’t Work No Good” was released this summer, and is available to download via iTunes.

The first nine shows on the tour were announced on Wednesday, and UARK Bowl officials say that additional shows will be added as soon as they are confirmed.

Tickets to each show are $7 at the door, or $5 for students. Doors open each week at 7 p.m., show time is at 7:30 p.m. For reservations, call 479-283-5282.
