Arrest made following Metropolitan National Bank armed robbery

Amos Eric Watts faces felony charges in connection with aggravated robbery and theft of property.

Amos Eric Watts, 23, of Fayetteville, was arrested in connection with a Saturday afternoon armed robbery of a Metropolitan National Bank branch located at 4033 N. Shiloh Drive.

Police responded to the bank at around noon after a man reportedly entered the bank wearing sunglasses and a dark tan hooded coat. Authorities said he showed tellers a handgun, demanded money, and left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police located and arrested him 10 minutes later near the intersection of Appleby Road and Gregg Street.

Watts faces felony charges of aggravated robbery and theft of property.

According to reports, no customers were inside the building at the time of the robbery and no employees were injured.
