A large crowd gathered at about 11 a.m. Monday morning in the Walton Arts Center parking lot for the 2012 MLK Day March.

The annual event, sponsored by the NWA Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Planning Committee and the City of Fayetteville, included the presentation of the city’s Brotherhood Award by City Attorney Kit Williams.

This year’s award went to Fayetteville Office Administrator Lana Broyles.

Participants marched from Dickson Street to the Verizon Ballroom in the University of Arkansas Union for the traditional noon vigil sponsored by the university’s Associated Student Government and the Black Students Association.
