Fayetteville Roots Festival will return for a third year in 2012

After a successful 2010 debut and exponential expansion last year, the Fayetteville Roots Festival will be back for a third time in 2012.

A promo video for the festival featuring Harrisburg, Va. band, The Steel Wheels was released last week, announcing the festival’s return Aug. 23 through 26.

According to the video, this year’s event will include over 30 musical artists, and will continue to feature local farmers, local foods, as well as local artists and craftspeople.

The video also mentions documentary films, which would be a new element for the event. We also noticed today that the festival is hosting a giveaway of Steel Wheels merchandise on their website.

So far, The Steel Wheels are the first officially announced musicians for the festival, but we also found a handful of acts from around the country that list the event as an upcoming date on their website, including Carrie Elkin, Danny Schmidt, Ryan Spearman, and locals 3 Penny Acre.

Festival organizer Bryan Hembree said he hopes to have the full music lineup for the 2012 festival ready to go in the next month or so.

Is there anybody in particular you guys hope to see on the official lineup once it’s released?
