The southbound lane of West Avenue between Spring Street and Meadow Street will close each weekday from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. through Jan. 27.
Keith Shreve, the city’s assistant transportation manager, said the closure is necessary to allow for the completion of a drainage improvement project in the area.
Crews began working to add two drop inlets and modify sections of curb and sidewalk Tuesday morning. We snapped the above photo at around 8 a.m. Thursday.
According to a news release, the street will open to regular traffic at night and will remain open all weekend.
