News Briefs

The Tontitown Fire Department will demolish the building once home to Mary Maestri’s restaurant in a controlled burn training exercise this Saturday. A 30,000-square-foot shopping center called Casalini Court is set to take its place.

It’s Restaurant Week in Fayetteville. Organized by the Fayetteville Visitors Bureau, the program is intended to help out local restaurants during a slow time period, get people to visit some of their favorite eateries, and maybe entice folks to try out a new place or two.

Thanks to the recent opening of Crystal Bridges Museum, Bentonville was added to yet another list of must-visit destinations in 2012, this time from the Los Angeles Times.

Monday Events

Anyone interested in learning about beekeeping is encouraged to attend a series of beginner classes hosted by the Northwest Arkansas Beekeepers Association.

The first class is tonight (Jan. 30) and the others are set for Feb. 6 and Feb. 13. All classes are from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Pauline Whitaker Equine Center across from Agri Park in Fayetteville.
