What would you say if we told you that the owners of Bliss Cupcake Cafe were opening a second location in Fayetteville next to Slim Chickens at 637 Joyce Boulevard?

We ask, because that’s exactly what’s about to happen in a few months.

Flint Harris, who owns the restaurant along with friends Jason and Lacey Carney and his wife Rebekah, told us his hope with the expansion is to provide an accessible option to customers in north Fayetteville, as well other residents along the I-540 corridor.

“We’re interested in growing the Bliss brand,” he said. “We feel like the new location will give us a lot of traffic, opportunity for new customers, and make it easier on our already loyal customers.”

The original Bliss Cupcake Cafe opened at 112 W. Center Street in Nov. of 2009. The original owner, Shelley Cassar sold the restaurant to the Carney’s in Jan. of 2011, and the Harris’ bought a share of the business in Nov. of last year.

Harris said the second location won’t be open until later in the spring, but he’ll be selling cupcakes out of the new space for a few days from Feb. 10, 11, 13 and 14 for Valentine’s Day.

“We’ll bake them at the original location, and we’ll haul them over there,” he said. “Valentine’s Day is kind of like our Super Bowl, so we want to make sure folks can get to us a little easier.”

Bliss Cupcake Cafe will be splitting a large space with another business, so there’s a bit of a building process that must first occur. Harris said that if everything goes according to plan, the second restaurant will be open sometime this May.
