The A&P Commission’s lease and purchase of the Old Post Office building on the square is on hold after a controversial counteroffer from the building’s owner surfaced.

A&P director Marilyn Heifner was placed on paid leave Monday while the commission awaits the results of an investigation into whether she violated the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act. In the meantime, the commission’s purchase of the Old Post Office building is on hold.

Flying Possum Leather is set to reopen on Block Avenue. New owner Bob Walker said the store will continue to sell many of the same products that Flying Possum fans are accustomed to, including Birkenstocks, custom sandals, shoes, boots, belts, and guitar straps.

Fayetteville police seized over 10 pounds of marijuana and arrested two men on drug charges last week.
