Helicopter rides available at vacant College Avenue car dealership

A sign announcing helicopter rides hangs from a trailer parked at a former car dealership on College Avenue in Fayetteville.

Earlier this week, we noticed a white trailer parked in a vacant car dealership lot at 3535 N. College Ave with a banner that read “helicopter rides” in all capital letters.

Two smaller signs affixed to the trailer read “Open Sat. & Sun. 11:00 a.m.” and “Starting at $25 per person.”

So we investigated, and it turns out, the signs speak (read?) the truth.

Local helicopter pilot Cameron McAhren tells us he’ll be giving rides through June 3 at the vacant lot just south of Millsap Road and that he’ll likely stay open until about 6 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday.

According to a recent Facebook wall post, the company is offering five routes to choose from.

Update: McAhren told us this morning that he plans to fly on Saturday this weekend, but stormy weather might prevent Sunday flights. Just FYI.
