Fayetteville Animal Shelter offers half-price adoptions for St. Patrick’s Day

Onyx recently entered the Fayetteville Animal Shelter in bad shape. He had major hair loss on his hind quarters due to a heavy flea infestation. After a good cleaning, his fleas are gone and his hair is growing back. He needs a permanent or foster home soon.

Been considering adopting a pet from the Fayetteville Animal Shelter? If so, Saturday’s your lucky day.

Shelter officials today announced the second annual half-price adoption day in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, March 17.

“This is a time of year when our cages start filling up fast and we want to encourage folks to open their homes to a new pet,” said Justine Middleton, the city’s animal services superintendent.

The half-price cost is $10 per cat and $30 per dog. All adopted pets will be spayed or neutered, and will receive a microchip and necessary vaccinations.

There is one catch, though, said Middleton. In order to qualify for the special rate, you must wear something green to the shelter on Saturday.

Easy enough.

For more information, call the shelter at 444-3456 or stop by and meet the pets.
