A few hundred people gathered on the square and along Dickson Street Saturday afternoon for Fayetteville’s first St. Patrick’s Day parade.
The event was organized by local resident Don Brown and a few friends.

“Basically, we love parades, and when we noticed that the nearest St. Patrick’s Day parade was in Eureka Springs this year, we decided to see if we could get one started in Fayetteville,” Brown said.
As expected for a first-time event, it was a small parade, but the weather was great and those in attendance seemed in good spirits.
Here’s hoping today was the start of a new tradition in Fayetteville.
