2012 Fayetteville Roots Festival initial lineup released

3 Penny Acre, Joy Kills Sorrow and Lake Street Dive performed for a crowd of about 100 folks who turned out to get an early look at the 2012 Fayetteville Roots Festival lineup at Greenhouse Grille Sunday night.

Legendary mandolin player and composer David Grisman will co-headline the festival along with a yet-to-be-named artist, festival organizer Bryan Hembree said.

“We’re extremely excited to have David headlining this year, and we’ll have one more headliner to announce soon,” he said. “We’ll also be adding a few more local and regional acts between now and August.”

Country singer and songwriter Darrel Scott, Hendrix alum Hayes Carll, North Carolina bluesy-bluegrassers The Steel Wheels, and Philadelphia folkers Hoots and Hellmouth are some of the other big names on the initial lineup.

Locals 3 Penny Acre, Trout Fishing in America, Cletus Got Shot, Still on the Hill, Shannon Wurst, and Adam Cox are also on the list.

The festival is set for multiple locations around Fayetteville from August 23-26, and tickets will go on sale in April at fayettevilleroots.com.
