2012 Arkansas – LSU game moved to Friday after Thanksgiving

It’s official. The Battle for the Golden Boot will be held on the Friday after Thanksgiving in 2012, UA athletics officials announced Wednesday.

The annual SEC Western conference rivalry game between the Razorbacks and the LSU Tigers is set for Friday, Nov. 23, and will be televised nationally by CBS.

It’s the second year in a row, and the 15th time in the last 17 years that the game will take place on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Arkansas has won three of the last five meetings between the two teams, including two straight at home.

Officials announced in February that the game would be in Fayetteville for the first time since 1992.

Arkansas begins the 2012 season on Sept. 1 with a matchup against Jacksonville State at Razorback Stadium. Other Fayetteville games include Alabama on Sept. 15, Rutgers on Sept. 22, Kentucky on Oct. 13 and Tulsa on Nov. 3.

Arkansas hosts Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 8 and Ole Miss on Oct. 27 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.
