The University of Arkansas Gamma Nu Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority broke ground Saturday on a $7 million property renovation that will add 10,000 square feet to the 47-year-old house at Maple Street and Leverett Avenue.

Former Mayor Dan Coody, who lost the 2008 runoff election to Lioneld Jordan after eight years in office, will once again run for mayor of Fayetteville in the November election.

Volunteers are needed for a tree, grass and shrub planting event from 4 to 7:30 p.m. today at Sweetbriar Park, 2645 E. Sweetbriar Dr. in Fayetteville.

J.T. Wampler, brewmaster and owner of Tanglewood Branch Beer Company in south Fayetteville, officially unveiled his first five locally-brewed creations yesterday afternoon.

Five Fayetteville High School students will sign National Letters of Intent to play college athletics at a ceremony at 3 p.m. today inside the high school cafeteria.

Five Finger Death Punch

L.A.-based metal band Five Finger Death Punch will play the Arkansas Music Pavilion tonight in support of their third album,”American Capitalist” released in October 2011. The group’s first two albums went gold after selling over 500,000 copies each in the United States. Trivium and In This Moment are set to open the 8 p.m. show. Tickets are currently $33.50 at waltonartscenter.org.

Also tonight, The Pimps of Joytime play George’s Majestic Lounge, Tim Meitzen is at JJ’s and Mitchell & Emery are at Tanglewood Branch Beer Company.
