Local museums offer free summer admission to military families

Several area museums, including Crystal Bridges in Bentonville and the Clinton House Museum in Fayetteville, are offering free summer admission to military families as part of the Blue Star Museums program sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts. The program runs through Labor Day, Sept. 3, 2012.

Hundreds of museums across the country are participating in the program which gives free admission to active-duty Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard, and active-duty National Guard and Reserve members.

“This is both an opportunity to thank military families for their service and sacrifice, as well as a chance to create connections between museums and these families that will continue throughout the year,” said Kate Johnson, Curator of the Clinton House Museum.

Other Arkansas museums participating include Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in Springdale, the Rogers Historical Museum, the William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock and several others.
