Update: July 3: We just got word that Spike has found a new home!

Meet Spike, a 13-year-old grey and white Shih Tzu who would love to be your companion. Despite his age, he is in very good physical shape and has no major health problems. He was trotting around at the Fayetteville Animal Shelter this morning with a group of dogs before we stopped and asked him to pose for a photo. The folks at the shelter said he’s great with other dogs, cats and kids. His owner had to give him up due to a personal health issue so he’s patiently waiting for someone to come along and offer him a new home. Since he’s over 10 years old and already neutered, his adoption fee will be waived, meaning you can bring this little guy home with you at no charge.

Glitter Pants

Glitter Pants is easily the cuddliest kitty we’ve met since we started the weekly pet column. She’s a two-year-old cutie who gets along great with other cats. She really likes camera lenses, too, because we could hardly keep her away from ours. Best of all, she’s a sponsored pet which means her adoption fee has already been paid.

If you are interested in meeting either of this week’s featured pets or any of the other wonderful animals at the Fayetteville Animal Shelter, call 444-3456 or stop by the shelter during adoption hours at 1640 S. Armstrong Avenue.
