Fayetteville Police Chief Greg Tabor announced the arrest of a man suspected of shooting a woman on Wedington Drive Sunday morning.

Eric Thomas Frankenhauser, 40, was arrested Tuesday by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio. According to police, Frankenhauser was on foot when stopped by deputies and was taken into custody without incident.

Police believe Frankenhauser shot Jessica Stewart, 39, in the head before fleeing the area Sunday. Stewart died Monday morning at Washington Regional Medical Center.

Officers responded to 2228 W. Wedington Dr. at approximately 8:52 a.m. Sunday after a reported shooting. Upon arrival, police found Stewart laying in the front yard of the residence with a gunshot wound to her head.

Neighbors in the area said Frankenhauser and Stewart were a couple and that they’d had an argument on Saturday.
