Local businesses interested in doing business with the City of Fayetteville are invited to a free vendor workshop scheduled for Friday, Aug. 24 at the Clarion Inn, 1255 S. Shiloh Drive.

The event will feature a presentation of how to do business with the city from 8:30 to 9 a.m. followed by a reverse trade show from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Fayetteville awarded over $14 million in 2011 through its bid process, according to a news release. The city regularly purchases a wide variety of things including construction services, tools and materials, janitorial and cleaning supplies, equipment rental, fuel, tires, automotive and heavy equipment parts, vehicles, office supplies, playground equipment, landscaping materials and plants, veterinarian supplies, temporary employment services, personal safety equipment, uniforms and computer equipment.

During the event, city staff will visit with vendors and answer questions as to how they can get involved in the quoting process. The city will also have a disadvantaged business enterprise station set up for minority businesses. Minority and women-owned businesses are strongly encouraged to attend.

Those in attendance will also learn how to sign up for the city’s email list which includes ongoing information about specific bids, requests for proposals (RFPs), and requests for qualifications (RFQs).

A breakfast buffet will be available beginning at 6:30 a.m. for $6.95 plus tax and tip.
