Stepping Up the Pace with Parkinson’s Walk/Run set for Saturday, Oct. 6

The Third Annual Stepping Up the Pace with Parkinson’s Walk/Run is set for Saturday, Oct. 6 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Pat Walker Center for Seniors in Fayetteville.

Event entry fee is $10 and proceeds raised during the event will go to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation. Participants can expect a race t-shirt, refreshments, and a light breakfast. Other activities include a silent auction, an informational lecture and a display hall with health-related booths.

The event is organized by locals Kay Gay, a registered dietician at Butterfield Trail Village who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2006; Gillian Woods, a gerontologist at the Pat Walker Center for Senior Health and the Movement Disorders Clinic; and Lisa Hughey, a social worker at the Pat Walker Center.
