The 11th Annual Trick or Treat on the Square event is set for 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31 on the Fayetteville downtown square.

If you’ve never been, here’s how it works. Put on a costume, put a costume on your kid, put a costume on your dog, and head to the square. Then, just walk around to the participating businesses and hold out your plastic jack-o-lantern or plastic sack, and watch as nice people drop candy into your container. For free.

The event also features carnival games, face painting, a pet costume contest, a photo booth and other fun activities for children.

The streets around the square will be closed to vehicular traffic during the event.

According to the folks at the Fayetteville Visitors Bureau, over 1,500 kids attended last year’s event. Here are our photos from that night to give you an idea of what to expect.

Get yourself some free candy, everyone.
