Fayetteville musician Benjamin Del Shreve is set to celebrate the release a new record on Friday, Dec. 7 at George’s Majestic Lounge.

The nine-song album, The Diamond, is a bit of a departure from Shreve’s previous work as it shows off a bit of his acoustic side.

“This is a kind record,” he said. “The two previous releases had a kind of ‘Billy bad ass,’ thing going on. This one is good music for a good day, or at least if you’re having a bad day it will probably cheer you up some.”

And though the distorted guitars and the wash of cymbals have been replaced with banjos, mandolins, violins, and piano, Shreve feels like fans of his previous work will also enjoy the new material.

“I hope that anyone who liked the first two rock records will like this one, but I am not attached to that outcome,” he said. “The fact is, I have been doing this kind of music a lot longer and even have some friends that know me more for this kind of music than for rock.”

The new album can be heard at Shreve’s Soundcloud page from now until the release show on Friday. After that, the record will be available on iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, and at Shreve’s website, bdsband.com.
