After a brief holiday hiatus, comedy is coming back to the UARK Bowl in a big way in January.

Comedian, writer, and actor Ralphie May is set to kick off the Winter 2013 Stand Up Comedy Season at the venue on Jan. 17.

May, who grew up in Clarksville, Arkansas, got his start in comedy at just 17 years-old when he won a contest to open for his idol, Sam Kinison. He became a household name in 2003 when he was chosen for season one of Comedy Central’s Last Comic Standing where he was the runner up in the competition to comic Dat Phan.

Since then, May has made countless late-night television appearances, recorded four hour-long specials for Comedy Central, appeared in a handful of films, and is the co-host of the Perfect 10 Podcast with his wife and fellow comedian, Lahna Turner.

Ralphie May is the first show announced for the UARK Bowl’s Winter Comedy series, but more shows are expected to be announced soon. May will perform at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17.

Tickets are $20, and are available for purchase at uarkbowl.com.
