Local forecasters say there is a potential for severe weather in Northwest Arkansas this week, including a wintry mix and some light snow.

Dan Skoff, KNWA chief meteorologist, said a strong weather system and an intense cold front are expected to move in Wednesday night.

“The main threat with storms will be damaging winds along with a few isolated tornadoes,” said Skoff. “I don’t expect much in the form of accumulation or problems, but don’t be surprised to see snowflakes Thursday morning.”

Skoff said another system will enter the area around Dec. 25 that could bring more winter weather.
