Fayetteville police step up traffic enforcement on College Avenue

Fayetteville police today began a two-day directed traffic enforcement campaign on College Avenue between North Street and Millsap Road.

Officers in marked and unmarked vehicles are scheduled to monitor traffic in the area on Monday, Jan. 28 and Tuesday, Jan. 29, according to a news release.

“The goal of the department is to bring awareness to drivers regarding traffic collisions and hopefully reduce the number of accidents on N. College Avenue,” the release stated.

Officers will be looking for the following violations:

  • Distracted driving
  • Following too close
  • Improper use of center lane
  • Failure to yield
  • Failure to signal turn or lane changes
  • Improper right/left turn
  • Disobeying traffic signals
