Seven local bands to play ‘SoundRaiser’ at Smoke & Barrel

It’s not very often that you’ll see the likes of local bands Damn Arkansan, Teenagers, The Great Scotts, Family History, Thunderlizards, Basement Brew, and Hombros Rancheros all on the same bill together. Most of those bands have followings large enough to headline their own shows around town.

You can see them all on Saturday, however, when the bands come together to raise money for sound system improvements at Smoke & Barrel Tavern.

The guys from Damn Arkansan came up with the idea.

“Smoke & Barrel was the first place that gave us a chance to play in town, and we are still so grateful for that,” said guitarist/vocalist Drew Walls. “We love playing there. We love the energy, and we just wanted to give something back to those really awesome guys.”

Walls said that the other bands were happy to jump on the show for the cause, creating a pretty impressive Saturday night bill.

“These are some of my favorite bands in town,” he said. “It’s kind of turned into a showcase of some of the talent we have here in Fayetteville.”

The show kicks off early at around 6:15 p.m., and will last “until they kick us out,” Walls said. Admission is $5, and all the proceeds go toward sound system upgrades at the bar.
