Pulitzer Prize-winning humor columnist and author Dave Barry is coming to Fayetteville next month.

Barry will be in town for an author talk and a book signing on Friday, April 12 at The Fayetteville Public Library as part of the Roberta Fulbright Distinguished Author Series.

Author of more than 30 titles, Barry became famous for a nationally-syndicated column he wrote for the Miami Herald from 1983-2005.

The 1990s sitcom Dave’s World was based on two of his nonfiction books, Dave Barry Turns 40 and Dave Barry’s Greatest Hits. In 2002, his first fiction novel, Big Trouble, was adapted into a motion picture starring Tim Allen and Rene Russo.

Currently, his children’s series Peter and the Starcatchers is in production with Hunger Games director Gary Ross and is expected to be released in 2013. Barry also just released a new novel titled Insane City earlier this year.

“We are excited to welcome Dave Barry to the library. While he is known for his satirical humor to our adult patrons; he is also known to our children and young adult patrons through his Peter and the Starcatchers series,” said David Johnson, executive director at the library, “He has something for everyone.”

The author talk is set for 7 p.m., and the book signing will take place at 8 p.m.
