University of Arkansas financial aid director Kattie Wing will retire this month after 25 years with the office, the UA announced Tuesday.

Wing, who has served as director since 2006, began her career at the university as a temporary employee in the late 1980s. Her retirement is effective April 12.

“Kattie has had many years of excellent service to students, faculty and staff, and we are grateful for her commitment to our students and families. Her wisdom and knowledge will be missed,” said Wendy Stouffer, executive director of academic scholarship and financial aid.

Stouffer will serve as interim financial aid director during the search for Wing’s replacement.

Wing has been active in the Arkansas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, where she just completed a term as president. She currently serves as training chair for the Southwest Association of Student Financial Aid Association.

Wing said she looks forward to using her retirement to volunteer in her grandchildren’s schools, work in her garden and travel.
