Vandergriff Elementary School students are collecting used book donations for the annual Charlie Brown used book sale.

Named in honor of a beloved chocolate lab adopted from the Fayetteville Animal Shelter many years ago by Ms. Wheeler, the event is the largest annual fundraiser for the shelter. Over the last two years, it raised $9,650, according to a news release.

This year’s sale is scheduled for May 22-24, but book donations are being accepted now and can be dropped off at Vandergriff Elementary, 2975 E. Township St., and at the Fayetteville Animal Shelter, 1640 S. Armstrong Ave.

During the sale, paperback books are sold for 50 cents, and hardbacks are sold for $1.
