A new movie filmed almost exclusively in Fayetteville last fall will make its official debut next month.
Gordon Family Tree, a film by former Fayetteville resident and current Hollywood writer/actor/producer Ryan Schwartzman and his wife Jennica Schwartzman will debut in Los Angeles May 4 before its Fayetteville premier on Wednesday, May 22 at Malco Razorback Cinema.
The film will be screened again at the Fayetteville theater on Thursday, May 23, and will include a Q&A session with the filmmakers.
The Schartzman’s decided to make the film in Fayetteville after coming to town for the Offshoot Film Festival a few years ago.
“I grew up around here, and coming back to visit family over the years, Jennica really fell in love with Fayetteville too,” Ryan told us in November. “We were shooting in the early fall, and it really was just perfect.”
Gordon Family Tree stars veteran actors Richard Karn (Home Improvmemnt) and Corbin Bernsen (L.A. Law), but is also loaded with local talent.
“Right from the beginning, we said we wanted to use as many local people as possible,” Ryan said. “We were very pleased with the level of talent from the area. Our cast is mostly Arkansas locals.”
The film is the story of Freemont Gordon (played by Schwartzman), an architect from an affluent family in Seattle who quits his job suddenly to take a soul-searching road trip to find out what’s really important in life.
Tickets to the premier on Wednesday night are sold out, but about 50 tickets remain for the Thursday night Q&A and screening.
