The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 10 p.m. Monday in Northwest Arkansas.

The watch includes seven counties: Benton, Carroll, Crawford, Franklin, Madison, Sebastian and Washington.

Forecasters say thunderstorms are expected to develop by mid-afternoon across portions of northeast Oklahoma, which could lead to additional storms further south. The service warns that heavy rain from 2-7 inches and flash flooding will likely become an issue later in the night in Northwest Arkansas.

Additional showers and thunderstorms are expected on Tuesday.
