After rain cancelled outdoor festivities last month, Fayetteville residents are probably hungrier than usual to get up on the square and enjoy First Thursday.

With temperatures forecast in the upper 60s/low 70s tonight, it looks like the weather will more than cooperate this time.

The fun kicks off at 5 p.m. tonight, with the opening of the outdoor art walk, a beer garden benefiting Pagnozzi Charities, food trucks, and more.

Music begins at 5:45 p.m. with Brooklyn-based kids band The Pop Ups. Time Out New York named them one of 2012’s Best 15 Bands for Kids, and they are gearing up for their second tour with Yo Gabba Gabba Live this summer. The band’s second album Radio Jungle won a Parent’s Choice Award in 2012. After that, local funk-rockers Groovement will take the stage.

The art walk this month will include over 50 local vendors, including paintings by Brian Hickey, photography by Jenny Long, jewelry and metal work by Eric Young, and more.

If you’ve got aspirations to be an artist yourself, you can participate in a free class by Painting with a Twist for the first 30 folks to sign up beginning at 6 p.m.

Fayetteville Underground will debut a new show featuring the winners of a national, juried art competition for female artists called “Women Take Flight.” The show opens at 5 p.m., and an awards ceremony to honor the winning artists is set for 7:30 p.m. Also at the Underground, local artist Sam Houser debuts a new collection of portraits of awesome Fayetteville people.

There’s also a trunk show at Terra Tots, featuring locally-designed maternity and post-partum wear by local fashion designers BonnerBell.
